NOCO Astronomical Observatory

The proposed observatory is intended to be built on property owned by the Poudre Learning Center Foundation, situated north of the Poudre Learning Center and across the river (Hall 133 property).

The location offers a strategic vantage point for celestial observation, with much less of the light pollution that often plagues urban areas, while still being accessible to members of the Northern Colorado community. The observatory would serve as an inspiring educational resource, enabling students to engage with astronomy through hands-on experiences with telescopes and an inflatable planetarium, fostering curiosity and a deeper understanding of the universe.

The observatory would feature a one-meter research-grade telescope, the largest telescope in the State! It would also feature a roll-off roof observatory with eight smaller telescopes allowing large groups to observe the night sky at the same time. The court-yard area is planned to include embedded educational exhibits including a scale model of the Solar System!
